History
Duped was conceived as a way to explore themes of isolation and identity, especially in the context of modern technologies. You find yourself alone in an expansive cave network, and must figure out who you are. The game was originally developed in 2017, using Unity. It was released in September of that year on Steam, with moderate success. Since ten, the game has continued to engage players. In 2019, Duped was ported to Nintendo Switch, to be enjoyed by a new group of puzzle lovers. Early development of Duped was motivated by playing games with cloning mechanics, or mechanics that required controlling multiple playable characters. There was a lack in games that had these mechanics that felt fluid to play, and so Duped was born. The idea of controlling multiple clones at once while jumping and bouncing around platforms gave rise to the idea of an action/platformer.
